Day 94

I don’t like the Valentine’s Day commercial hype. My husband feels the same. Maybe we’re getting too old to get excited about Valentine’s Day. Or we don’t need to have a certain day to express our love for each other. Anyway, we started the day with a date. Going to the gym at 5:30am date:-) We got a nice Valentine’s Day gift, too. The most annoying Chatty Cathy wasn’t there today!! Her friends were still chatty but not as annoying as her. That made our morning quite pleasant. I ran 5.31 miles and my husband walked 3.43 miles. We came back home and shared a croissant and some fresh squeezed orange juice and extra hugs and kisses. That’s a good way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I don’t like candy. I don’t like chocolate. I have a wonderful husband. He’s the sweetest thing for me in the world. That’s more than enough sweetness for me.

It was snowing lightly. And the temperature went up a little bit. It was good for my corgis because all the salt on the sidewalk was melted and gone. Since the last snow, the sidewalks were covered with salt. That irritates my corgis paws. Last night when we took them out for the night walk, Cappy had some problem on one of her paw and started to walk on three legs. I usually put the doggie boots on them but last night I thought they would be okay without boots. My poor little girl looked so miserable. So my husband carried her home. She looked happy in Daddy’s arms. But she is not a 7lb puppy any more:-) Today after all the salt was gone, she didn’t have any problem. I hate to see my corgis lift their feet because of salt.

So that was day 94. Another good day for love.

Day 62

Another good day at the gym. I ran 5.31 miles. Everything was in rhythm. My main goal now is completing my 100 day project. So I don’t do any special training but running consistently – I vary the speed while I’m running though. It is like building a very sturdy foundation. I have been running 62 days and my cardiovascular endurance was improved a lot. I have 38 days to do more 🙂 I’m focusing more on my main goal but I should say I’m thinking about preparing for my first race of this year, too. 8K is about 5 miles. I have been running 5 miles these days so I shouldn’t have a problem doing that. I just need to do that more efficiently. Well.. after finishing my project, I will still have a month before the race day.

Running was easy today but driving back home wasn’t. I should’ve stayed on main roads. Side streets were not plowed yet and very slippery. I was driving really carefully but on the slippery road, you don’t know how other cars will react.

For their afternoon walk, I put doggy boots on Jeter and Cappy. This morning when we took them out, they both lifted their legs and didn’t want to walk. It was cold and the sidewalks were covered with salt. Their little paws were so cold. I think they knew it’s time for boots. This afternoon when I brought their boots, they kind of cooperated. They didn’t have any problem walking on the snow and salt with their boots on 🙂 I just had more work to take care of their doggy boots and socks after the walk.

Day 52

It was quite cold this morning. I drove my husband to his work in downtown then went to the gym. There were many people on the ellipticals and most of them seemed struggling. Must be new members 🙂 When they finished exercising their faces were red and sweaty, but they looked happy.

I looked around before I picked my treadmill. There was no sight of that creepy old man. Yay! I ran 5.01 miles. I thought about having an easy day but didn’t do that. My body didn’t feel tired and the run didn’t feel difficult. It feels like running 5 miles became my daily routine. Let’s see how I will feel tomorrow.

It snowed a little bit yesterday. The sidewalks were covered with a thin layer of snow. The management company didn’t do anything yesterday so at night some parts of the sidewalk were really slippery. Today, even though the temperature plummeted it was a sunny day. The sidewalks were almost dry but the management company still poured so much salt on the sidewalks and driveways. Jeter and Cappy had paw problems because of salt last winter so this afternoon I put the doggy boots on them. I think Jeter sighed when I put his boots on 🙂 They are not big fans of boots but it’s better than having boo boo paws. In the winter, walking dogs requires more work unless you live somewhere like California or Florida.
