I was happy I ran 8.15 miles yesterday. I know it was just over 8 miles, not a half marathon distance or a 20 miler but still I got the feeling of accomplishment. So I gave my hard working legs an easy day today. It was my ‘Easy Monday’ and I love it 🙂
At the gym, I ran 3.21 miles. My legs felt tired a little bit from yesterday’s long run but after a couple of minutes of walking warm up, they were good to go. But it was my nose which was suffering. I don’t know what they did, but the whole gym was really stinky. I’m calling the gym I go to the ‘Stinky gym’ on DailyMile but today it was literally stinky. A pungent smell was in the air. Did they use a different cleaning solution? I don’t know but it surely was not a pleasant smell. AND the old sweaty guy with bad BO on the next treadmill wasn’t helpful. Thank goodness it was an easy day so I didn’t need to stay there long. Even though I spent less time at the gym than usual, putting up with unpleasant smells made me want to go out to run. Good thing is… tomorrow will be warm enough for me to do that.
When I came back home, I tried to do some yoga again but didn’t finish. I was hungry and wanted to take a shower to get rid of that smell from my hair. I’ll try to do it at another time this week. Oh, and I’m going to keep the “easy” theme this week. I only had one “recovery week” on my 12th week and this is my 17th week. Time to cut back the weekly mileage. But I will only go easy on ‘quantity’, not ‘quality’. That means tempo run, speed work and long run will still be included but I’ll just do them short.
Good luck everybody on your training this week!
It was my super easy, less-mileage running day. Yesterday I went out to run late in the afternoon and today I went to the gym in the morning. So I wanted to give my legs a break since they had less time to rest. And from this week, I’m going to add one session of speed work and a long run so Monday and Friday will be the easy days. My weekly mileage will be the same or maybe less because I’ll take some miles from those easy days and add them to the long run. As always, I’m not going to do too much too soon. That was one reason I didn’t have any leg injury during my streak. Today I ran 3.53 miles at a slow and easy pace. After I came back home, I did 15 minutes of “yoga for athletes”. It was one of many fitness videos on Comcast on demand. It was about stretching and breathing and not that hard to follow. I’ll do that again and maybe try other yoga videos. My gym offers yoga class only twice a week. One class is at inconvenient time for me so I can try another one on Saturday morning but I don’t know about the difficulty level of the class. I need to talk to the instructor before I try.
These days we eat veggies and fruits more. Whenever I cut fruits or veggies, Cappy is jumping around me and waiting to get some pieces with a happy smile. She loves to eat everything I give to her but one of her favorite fruits is honey dew melon. Today when I was cutting the honey dew melons, she did her cute happy dancing 🙂 Jeter joined her and they enjoyed melon together. Later they got some mangos, too. There is not that many thing in the world cuter than a corgi’s mouth which is munching fruit 🙂
I had another easy day. I ran 5.06 miles slowly. I just didn’t feel it today. There was that disgusting shower man and he still washed his face and neck at the water fountain. There was a male staff member who chatted annoyingly and loudly forever. Cleaning guy filled the spray bottle not with disinfectant solution but with water from the water fountain. And most of all, a rude and stupid woman staff member with a sucky attitude was on the phone when I expressed my concern about the shower man. LA Fitness sucks. Really sucks. It was a Bally’s before and this gym was old, dirty, and annoying, but now it’s much worse. Today I really wish I had a treadmill at home so I don’t need to deal with these annoying people. I’m so tired of this yucky gym. I miss warm weather and I miss running outside at the forest preserve trail.
Okay. End of my rant for today. Ugh!!
Anyway I ran and I completed 90% of my project. 10 more days to go.
I’ve been running more miles recently. So I gave my legs an easy day today. I ran 5.04 miles at an easy pace. I remember the first time when I ran 5 miles at the gym. Back then running 5 miles means I worked hard. But now, I’m calling the same 5 miles an ‘easy day’ 🙂
At the gym today, I saw that ‘Onion Lady’ again. Thankfully she was using a stationary bike on the other side of the gym. I was glad she didn’t come next to me like the other day but at the same time I got so curious whether she smells like a raw onion again. I had to admit I was tempted to go there to check. But I didn’t:) it took some willpower not to do that. But I imagined myself sniffing around somebody like a bloodhound and that made me giggle.
